Kyle Getter enters his first season with the Flames after coming to Liberty Mountain from Walsh in North Canton, Ohio, where he was the top assistant coach. Spending one season at Walsh, Getter helped the Cavaliers to a 26-5 record and a second-round appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament. Getter was also the Cavaliers’ men’s golf coach.

“We are really excited about Kyle joining the Liberty family,” commented McKay. “Coach Getter will bring a wealth of energy and relative experience, which will be an asset to our players and program.”

Prior to Walsh, Getter had a couple NCAA Division I stops, including serving as the Director of Basketball Operations at Marshall under head coach Ron Jirsa. While at Marshall, Getter was responsible for film exchange, video editing, team travel, recruiting, supervising player academics, overseeing the daily operations of the basketball office and coordinating The Marshall Thundering Herd Basketball Camp.

Before his arrival at Marshall, Getter worked with Head Coach Paul Biancardi at Wright State, and at Dayton with head coach Oliver Purnell, who is now the head coach at Clemson. While Getter was at Dayton, the Flyers won the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship and finished the 2002-03 season with a Top 25 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today and AP Polls.

“Coach Getter has worked with some very good coaches and has been a part of NCAA Division I and NAIA tournament participants’ staffs,” stated McKay. “We are obviously very excited and feel that Coach Getter will fit right in with what our goals are for advancing our program.”

Getter received his undergraduate degree in physical education from Hanover College (Ind.). While at Hanover, he served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach from 1999-2002. He helped the team earn a three-year record of 60-18, winning two HCAC championships. Getter also served as the Head Women’s Golf Coach during the 2001-2002 season. Before attending Hanover, Getter played two seasons at Centre College in Kentucky.

Getter earned his Master’s degree in education leadership from Dayton. Kyle and his wife, Michelle, are the proud parents of William Patrick Getter II, born Sept. 28, 2007.
