SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Virginia Commonwealth's Eric Maynor has been named among 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award given annually to the nation's top collegiate point guard.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the finalists yesterday. The award will be presented at the Final Four in Detroit on April 6.
Maynor is averaging 23.1 points, 5.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. He was the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year last season.
People can vote for their favorite candidate at the award's Web site -- http://www.cousyaward.com -- and the top vote-getter from the online poll will receive the "Fan Vote", representing one vote to be cast by the committee selecting the winner.
